| IG to Invest US$5mn in Selig | | | BNamericas.com | |
Brazilian content and access provider Internet Group do Brasil (IG) will invest US$5mn in its wireless portal Selig (www.selig.com.br) during the first year of operations, Gazeta Mercantil, (Brazil) reported.
Launched in July last year, Selig was free until yesterday, when it began charging a monthly fee of US$1.5 (R$3) for access to its 35 channels. IG expects the move to turn 3,000 of its 65,000 registered but irregular users into active users. The idea is to sign up sponsors for each channel on the portal and reach operational breakeven this year. According to Selig president Fabian de la Rúa, the company had always planned to start charging for the service, considering the free period as a test. Selig hopes to reach national coverage 1Q01 and is already working with mobile operators Telesp, Telefonica, Global Telecom and BCP. The company is open to partnerships with any other CDMA or TDMA operators. BNamericas.com | | Voltar para Manchetes de Hoje | |
